From The Tees To The Road

Today I recycled some of the wood that was used for the tree house into a garbage box at the road. This will keep the birds from tearing them apart. The main frame work is from some cut offs that came from the second floor addition, always good to recycle if I can. It's a simple box and lid, the hinges are even reused from the door of the tree house.

An easy spot off the road for the crew to pick thing  up.

Two chains added to keep the lid from going over.

And The Tree House Makes Two

Today was a good day to dismantle the old tree house, not too hot and very little bugs. This wasn't too difficult to dismantle, nails mostly, except for the hinges. The wood will be recycled into garden beds and maybe a road side garbage box to keep the birds from ripping through it before the truck comes. Anyway this is another project off the list, and yes the list is still very long.

It was located a couple of rows in behind the shed.

A nice pile of wood, some 11 inches wide.

It was 3 feet off the ground nailed to these four trees in centre
of the picture.

One Down - A Gazillion To Go

Well one project done and many more ahead of us. This one has a sensitive time line because we need it to get the garden started, after all it's only late May and fells like late April. It was a long day getting this part done. The poly went on well but there are about 3000 staples in there and that's a lot of hand work. ReBecca has already started getting things in and it's good she's sees how the vents were to open, bottom out. This may be good if it rains but getting the heat out during the day is important, so we changed it. And she can now put a ground cover in front of the vents without a problem.

Its done.

The vents open at the top.

Two bottom vents and one top one.

Already in use.

It's Taking Shape

The hoop green house is taking shape, ReBecca painted it with exterior paint the other day, the base is hemlock and doesn't need painting. Yesterday I put up the hoops, the gable ends and some strapping on the end hoops to attach the poly. Next the door and vents need to be painted and we'll install the poly. Almost done.

Looks good with a little paint.

Nice shape to it.

Going Green

Green is the right colour this month, the grass is showing signs of greening up and we went to Green Diamond and got a John Deere 25 hp tractor, more like a compact tractor but the right size for our place. It has come in handy already as I started to build a hoop green house, as I needed gravel for the base. After looking at the site ReBecca wants the green house I made 8 trips Monday to our gravel pit for stone and after leveling the base of the green house I needed 4 more so back to the pit I went. Once it was all leveled out I started with the frame work. This is it for now until it gets a coat of paint to protect the wood, I'll then start on the hoops and plastic, door and vents.

Our new tool, no need for a mower deck, just a bucket and loader.

The base put down on Monday.

The base frame and more gravel this morning.

The frame work this afternoon.

Can You Picture It?

Here are the upper kitchen cabinets in the rough, can you picture them on the wall? The two on the left will be side by side left of the kitchen window. Next the small one will be on the right side of the window, a space for the range hood and the last one at the far right end. I cleaned up the outside a bit, sanded, filled a few problem areas, primed them and then I'll be putting on the grey paint. I still have doors to make and hinges to install. A slow process, especially since spring is trying to break through and we have a bit of gardening to get prepared, and golfing has started so lots to do.

They are about 16 inches taller than the average upper cabinets.
