First Blizzard OF 2017 - A Snow Day

This is our first blizzard of 2017, we have already had a harsh snow fall about a week ago with freezing rain, power outages and another snow fall a couple of days ago, that was light. This has officially been called a blizzard. We had easily about 8 inches this morning and it's still coming down. I guess I'll just sit and enjoy the snow day, while I can. Here are a few shots of what we are seeing.

Looking north out the bump out window at the hen house.

West view, a bit of drifting off the room, can't see the shop.

From the upstairs hallway, looking for the road.

From the studio window, I found the shop, sort of.

Add A Little Snow - Remove A Little Snow

Well it's early February and this is only our second significant snow fall this season, I'm not complaining just stating facts. We got a bit over a foot of it, the bottom couple of inches are (were) wet and as the temperature dropped during the event the snow was a bit more softer. It took a while to remove it because this year I don't want to run out of room like last season, so I moved it all about 20 feet further. And this means moving more snow. It was sunny and not too windy so taking most of the day wasn't a problem. I even had to use the snow blower to clear the decks and a path for the dog. Enjoy the before and after pictures.

Snow Day

Today is our first Snow Day, and it's still coming down. I've cleared off the decks, made room to access to the shed and shop twice and will continue until it stops and I can get the tractor out. If I keep this up every few hours it wont' be as back as trying to shovel it all at once. Lets hope the rest of the season isn't like this or like last year.

Now This Is What You Call A Snow Fall

This started at 5 PM last night and went into the night, turned to ice pellets and now light rain, good morning Searsville. It is very heavy and I have my work cut out for me, I don't know if the snow blower can throw it very far, wait we have a tractor now, not a problem. I just have to  worry about the decks and that's about it. We lost a small tree by the shop and a branch off one of the pines, as well we cut down the grove of trees in the front yard that reached up to the power and phone lines. They alway bothered us and it's a good thing they are gone now.

Lots of it.

There is a squril in that feeder again.

Round Two

Yesterday was a snow day, of sorts. I still got the last piece of baseboard in and the toe kick covers made, in spite of the snow. It looks like this may be staying for a while, some rain early this week but the temps are low and I don't know if it will wash it away. I like winter but for some reason I'm not ready for this, at least this soon.

Working With The Weather - A Snow Day

As most of us already know we had a bit of snow, actually it was called a blizzard, so work on the house has slowed down some what. I spent one day waiting for the snow to stop, cleaning the driveway in town and then the next day doing both places. The next thing will be to get the wood to start the window trim. I'll be waiting a few days to pick it up as it is calling for rain, and I have to use the trailer because most of it will be 10 feet long to maximize the best results out each board, without waiting too much. Not even a snow day as I wasn't very busy. I'll save this day for golfing season.

A nice bright day, a bit windy. Another postcard picture.

This is the start of one end of the driveway. It goes as far to
the house from the garage and beyond as much again.

A Snow Day

Just when you get to a point in your project that you can take a few days off, you get a snow day, such a waste of a snow day. I'll have to save this up for June or July and go golfing. It looks nice in the winter and I thought you might like to see what we see.

Still snowing hard, as you can see.
