The Other Side

Yesterday I put on the trim for the mudroom side of the door. It required a little adjusting prior to installation, I doubt anyone will notice, it looks just the same.

The mudroom side done.

Doors Framed And Trimmed Out

The front door has some new frame work and trim, along with the doorway into the mudroom (AKA the addition first floor). I still have some trim to put up on the mudroom side but that won't take long and I'll be starting the base boards. It's amazing how they look now, wait until the base boards go up.

A new look, now to paint the door.

Old door frame is gone, new on installed, with trim.

One More Light Changed Out

It may take us a while to find lights but we do find one's that we like, at least they'll work for now. We picked this one up today, it's nice and bright, I think a dimmer switch may be in order hear. Now it shows all the imperfections in the ceiling and that needs to be done, soon I'm told.

This has worked for a couple of years now, why change???

The new look.

Close up, the blotches are from the camera, sorry.

See what I mean about a dimmer switch.

A Couple More Doors

I have a couple of doors to trim out and one to frame in and I'll be ready to get at the baseboards. They are now done, primed and painted, next step installation.

8 inch baseboards with ¾ inch quarter rounds waiting.

Door trim drying.

Door frame for between the house and addition.

New Neighbors

We went to a bee outing yesterday to learn more about them and to see first hand hives and talk to others. There were hobbyists and some who use them for commercial purposes. A great outing and very nice to see. Come next spring we'll be starting out with one hive and see how it goes. Hopefully lots of honey and wax.

Checking out the cluster.

They're getting ready for winter.

Cleaning up some honey.

Very gentle creatures.

New Trim Look

Over the past few days I have been making new trim for the rest of down stairs, and this time it has a new look, but you'll have to wait until it's installed to see. Sorry. I used 2 x 10 pine 8, 10, and 12 foot lengths, cut the ¾ inch quarter rounds out of them and the main piece is still 8 inches tall. Right now they have the first coat of primer on them, this helps reveal any defects the need to be addressed. Next I'll get a better primer to help seal and hide the knots in the pine. Lots to do but it shouldn't be long now.

Lots of trim laid out.

Not much room left to work.
