Let the work begin

Next we decided to paint the rooms that we would be using if we had to move right away. First I removed all the metal closet shelving. They were installed good and solid, after all there were 32 little clips and brackets holding them in. All had to be removed, filled, sanded before we primed the walls. Much easier to paint without all the little clips in place. I know it's hard to see that some of the wall were primed, trust me they were. Here is what they looked like.
Master bedroom.
Dressing room.
Spare room, almost hides the blue.
My office, still a bit green, but getting better.
The addition, we all so painted the ceiling. ReBecca's office was done as well, I forgot to get a picture of it.

The Basement

I almost forgot to show you the basement. Being a century home a stone foundation was expected and I don't know much about stone foundations, I was a bit worried. When we had a home inspection done, we wanted someone with a good background or at least a better understanding of this type of foundation to give us a realistic evaluation of it's condition and I'm happy to say the inspector was very pleased with it's condition and how it looked. So here we are, a few pictures to give you a idea what we have. Steep stairs from inside the house down and an exterior exit for wood or what ever.

Here is what we started with.

Here is what the house looked like before we started cleaning up and making it somewhat livable, just in case we got lucky and our Sussex home sold early. It took us 4 days of cleaning to make it acceptable, we removed two old rugs, lots of cleaner and a shop vac to get rid of all the extra hair, mostly dog hair. Now the fun begins.

The addition, we will use this until we redo the old one after we move in.

Another view of the addition. A nice place to sit, eat and look out at the pond.

ReBecca’s Studio.

A look at the kitchen from the hallway.

The kitchen from the dining room view.

Appliances are out.

Another of the kitchen.

Now with the cupboards removed.

The dining room facing south. I know the picture is a little dark. I'll do better next time.

Dining room west side.

Living room, they had plywood down???

Living room south east corner where my chair will go.

Top of the stairs looking into the 2 piece bath, the room with the best view, south.

My future office, Kirmt the Frog green????

Master bedroom, north east room.

Dressing room, south east room.

Dressing room again, the wall paper must go.

Guest room the south west room, lots of colour. That means lots of primer.

Looking back down the hall.

View from the front door into the addition, future mudd room.

Finally the main bath, across from the kitchen.

How old is it?

We are not too sure about the actual age of the home, we knew it was over a 100 years old and proof was under a few floor boards in one of the bedrooms, pieces of an old new paper were found. This is what was printed on January 8, 1896.

Our New Home

Well here we are, on December 15, 2011 we became owners of this property in Searsville. The house has great curb appeal, there is a new garage and an older, large shed, sitting on 55 acres of land. The inside has had some work done on it over the years and still needs more. The addition was but on the back about 6 years ago. The location is fantastic with excellent views.
