Rock And Mud

Today the sheet rock and mud went on, it shouldn't take too long for the mud to dry, then a little wet sanding, more mud and so on and so forth. You know how it goes. It may look dark but the blinds in the studio are closed, the door has 15 pains of glass so lots of light shining in.

A Little Wall

One more item to tackle, this time it's a wall for a door to the studio. This way ReBecca can just round up the cats out of the studio and close the door without having to pack everything up. The door we got is from the Re-Use it store in Saint John, it has I believe 15 pains of class, so lots of light coming through, we don't want it to be dark.

60 Liner Feet Of Shelving

With 60 liner feet of shelving you would think one might have plenty of room, well guess again. This is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to books, at least it's the lions share of art related ones anyway. They not organized yet as we just want to get everything up and out of the way for now. She also has several mobile bins that will go along the bottom for easy access. As I said before it is coming together.

A Very Busy Day

Yesterday was a very busy day, right away I put some mud on spots that needed touching up. While it was drying I picked up the pine ( 1 x 2 x 14 ft) and ReBecca was in town to see what shelving parts were available. After that we went into Saint John to do a little shopping, and get additional shelving parts that weren't available in town. It was a very quick trip, two stops and lunch all in under two hours. Once we got home I got busy sanding the touch ups, I vacuumed and mopped the floor, pulled down the plastic patrician and primed everything. Then two coats of ceiling paint, two coats of wall paint and a good coat on the floor to dry over night. All in all a very good day. Today the shelf wall mounts and brackets are up and the shelves will be up soon, once they are cut to desired length, those pictures later.

The Last 8 Feet

After getting all the books and supplies moved from the last 8 feet ReBecca was done for the day, that was yesterday at 9:30 PM, and she started in the afternoon, she had it well organized and packed it. This morning we moved the book cases downstairs and I was able to start putting up the last 12 sheets of drywall. And because I could start a little earlier than planed, I got the seams taped and the mud is on. Tomorrow I'll get it sanded (wet sanding) apply the second coat of mud, get the fans going and maybe just maybe I could get it sanded and the third coat on. It's an open area and the corners are very easy to do.

Inspiration Galore

As promised here is the floor, it is "Giverny Violet", the second coat is still wet in spots so it looks a little patchy right now. It will be a bit darker when dried. It's not the greatest paint, it will work until she finds something she likes, we don't want to rush it.

Adding A Bit Of Color

The ceiling has bee painted and today I added a bit of color to the walls, it's called "Spring Blossom". We'll be tackling the last 8 feet soon, I think she wants to paint the floor first, I'll wait to show pictures before I tell you what color it will be.

Power, Rock & Mud Part 2 & 3

The last post showed the power portion of "Power, Rock & Mud" now you can see what we've been up to these past several days. The Rock and Mud parts are done and so is the primer coat and the ceiling has been painted. Long days and very sore after but a job well done. I think I have to give the ceiling another coat before the green walls get done. The hardest and longest part of the this job has been the little bump out, it has turned into the bump out from hell, so many corners and a tight space to work in. The last 8 feet behind the plastic will be a breeze.

Power, Rock & Mud

This is the order of work ahead of us so we can get the second floor addition finished, at least the lions share of the work. The store room walls went in earlier in the month and our electrician came and saw what we wanted to do for lights and plugs and is OK with me doing the labor part, sweat equity is great. He will take care of all the plugs and lights as well as connecting everything to the panel, after all it is his license. That's the "Power" part of this job. It took a few days but, the wiring is in place and we'll be starting the dry wall tomorrow, we are a little sore after carrying 30 sheets up the stairs, and this is only for half the room, and not even the inside of the store room. This is the "Rock" part of the job. Then the "Mud" part of the job will start and after that priming and painting. Then we do the other half of the room. You see, it is still full of supplies and things. Here are a few dull pictures of where everything is going. Tuck tape repairs all.

Keeping Busy

We have been keeping busy even though it may not seem like it. I've gotten a few projects done and out of the way, like adding the top piece to the kitchen cabinets, building a new stand in the cold room, building more hive parts and frames getting ready for bees. And putting up a couple of walls in the second floor addition, getting ready for the electrician to do their thing. We also had a hands on day with a couple who have about 135 hives, we helped them split some as several were stronger than others and they were getting ready to send them off to the blueberry fields. We only worked one day they were doing about 30 of them. A great learning experience and we got a lot of info from them. So here are a few pictures of our recent work.
